Harry Van der Sluice took the stage name Roy Rene when he entered the world of Australian vaudeville. He paired with Nat Phillips as the duo Stiffy and Mo.
In the 1940's and 50's he achieved fame throughout Australia with the popular radio programme MacCackie Mansions.
Mo used white face paint and then contrasted it with a dark mustache and beard.
Use very light and very dark timber for these. Bleaching and ebonising your timbers will help you get some stunning, contrasting colours.
Full details of exactly how to do this plus many more tips and tricks are fully explained in our book Intarsia Down Under. This comprehensive introduction to intarsia also includes patterns and instructions for nine original projects.
