We pride ourselves on specializing in Aussie designs. So this must be a very rare species of Elephant that lives in the wilds of the Northern Territory of Australia.

As with many of our designs this intarsia is built in layers.

  • The picture frame with the background is straightforward and should be made first.
  • The legs and body are then glued on top of the background with the front foot overlapping the frame.
  • The head is made separately and glued on top of the body to give a jumbo charging out of the frame.

I have seen one of these made by a customer who enlarged the plan on a photocopier. It ended up 1.2m (4") tall. He used grey and yellow timber for the elephant and the finished piece looked pretty darn impressive.

But don't take our word, check out some of our Customer's Finished Elephant Projects.

Elephants are big, so blowing up the pattern will work well.
